How does it work?

We will set up a free video/phone consultation in which we will discuss what we can do for you and how much time the project is likely to take.

Once we have agreed on a research plan and time commitment, we'll get to work!

Fees

​

£25 per hour, with a minimum of 1 hour

​

£125 for 5 hours

​

£250 for 10 hours

​

£480 for 20 hours

- Additional costs for the purchase of paywalled documents/ travelling to archives may be necessary, this will be discussed with the client before the project begins.

Types of projects available:

​

- Research Project -

This entails a project of your choice, such as researching a single surname, numerous surnames, your whole family tree back a number of generations, or researching one ancestor in particular.

​

What will you receive?

(Electronically, and physically for an additional fee)

- A written research report of our findings, with images and records where necessary.

- Suggestions for future research projects.

- A phone call or video call to discuss our findings.

- An optional bound book for an additional cost.

-Family Tree Chart - 

An ornate hand drawn family tree, either blank so you can fill it in yourself, or we can fill it in for you.

 

- Family Tree book -

The findings of a research project can be presented in a bound personalised book - this will be different to the written research report as it will be presented in a narrative form, yet still include all the valuable information found during the research project. Photos from your own collection can be included in this book.

- Family Tree Confirmation - 

If you would like a professional to confirm the research you have already done, along with suggestions for where to research next, this is the package for you.

- Transcription of Old Documents -

If you have any handwritten documents such as old letters, birth certificates, etc, we are happy to transcribe them for you.​

 

- Archive Visits -​​​

I can travel to Bristol Archives, Devon Heritage Centre (Exeter) and North Devon Record Office (Barnstaple) to photograph records. I charge an hourly rate of £20 for this service, alongside travel costs of £20-£30 for each venue. There can be some additional costs depending on the information you require. I do not charge for the time spent travelling to archives.
